After listening to this story, it reminded me of a common saying, "A blessing in disguise."
The old man in the story experienced many "accidents" again and again from beginning to end, such as: losing a horse that helped with farming, but it was recovered soon after and brought back a wild horse; The old man's child broke his leg because he was training horses, but when he was later conscripted into the army, he was exempted from military service and saved his life. Every time an accident occurred, the old man smiled lightly and said, "Bad luck or good luck, who knows?"
